October 20, 2023‘The territories that are occupied – they are no longer Ukraine’: Klitschko unexpectedly responded to the question about elections
October 20, 2023In the U.S. federal budget, there are almost no funds left for assisting Ukraine.
This was reported by Jake Sullivan, the assistant to the American president for national security.
Sullivan stated, “The funds and authorities that the U.S. Congress had previously approved by an overwhelming majority have almost run out.”
He emphasized that Congress must take the necessary steps to ensure the continuation of support for Ukraine on the battlefield. However, the House of Representatives cannot consider a new request because it has not yet elected a speaker. The request is directed to the temporary head of the lower house, but they do not have sufficient authority.
In early October, the U.S. Congress passed a temporary budget that did not include aid to Ukraine. Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder mentioned that Washington could only provide seven billion dollars to Kyiv. Nevertheless, on October 20th, President Biden requested 61.3 billion dollars from Congress for military support to Ukraine and an additional 14.3 billion dollars to strengthen Israel’s defense.
