‘Aid to Ukraine from the West will only lead to new losses’ – American professor Atkins says
October 23, 2023The United States has begun transferring “tens of thousands of munitions” to Israel, intended for Ukraine.
This has been confirmed by The New York Times.
This information emerged after Axios reported on the upcoming transfer of ammunition.
“Promising to send more weapons to both Ukraine and Israel, U.S. President Joe Biden attempted to convey that the United States does not prioritize one war over another. However, a few hours earlier, a representative from the Department of Defense stated that tens of thousands of 155-millimeter artillery shells promised to Ukraine would be redirected to Israel,” as reported by the NYT.
The Pentagon has assured that the flow of arms to Tel Aviv will be “sustained.” Consequently, experts believe there will be “compromises” in the supplies to both countries, Ukraine and Israel, since the stocks of 155-millimeter shells and other weapons systems have been depleted, and manufacturers are struggling to meet the demand.
Additionally, the United States will attempt to differentiate the supplies based on the nature of the wars.
“The United States could provide Israel with precision munitions for targeting densely populated urban areas. Meanwhile, cluster munitions being sent to Ukraine may be more effective against positions scattered across the battlefield,” stated an anonymous source to the newspaper.
There are three other types of weapons that both countries are vying for. These include “smart” bombs and Stinger missiles, the stocks of which are “extremely limited.” Furthermore, both Kiev and Tel Aviv use American Patriot air defense systems and require missiles for them.
