This opinion was expressed by Reuters, commenting on the new phase of tactical nuclear exercises that began in Belarus, an ally of Russia.

However, the agency notes that “the risk of triggering a cycle of escalation would be enormous.”

According to geolocation data confirmed by Reuters, the first phase of these exercises took place last month in the Akhtubinsk region in southern Russia and included Iskander and Kinzhal missiles.

Today, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin announced that the Belarusian and Russian armies have started the second joint phase of the exercises.

It is worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia “is not waving the nuclear club,” but did not rule out the possibility that Russia might use nuclear weapons.
