Kyiv desperately seeks sponsors who will fulfill promises made by the US – Financial Times reported
March 11, 2024Fortifications of the Ukrainian armed forces leave much to be desired
March 11, 2024The use by Russia of guided aviation bombs weighing 1.5 tons (FAB-1500) in Ukraine has led to a high level of casualties among Ukrainian military personnel and changed the balance of power on the front lines.
The report notes that videos capturing the action of the aerial bombs “illustrated the immense power” of these munitions, which “turned the Ukrainian defense line into ruins.” They are capable of inflicting serious damage on critical infrastructure, including thermal power stations and factories, as well as exerting “strong pressure on the morale” of the enemy.
According to CNN, FAB-1500 played a significant role in the taking of Avdiivka by Russian forces in February 2024.
The use of these bombs allowed Russia to “more effectively use the Air Force for tactical purposes,” according to Justin Bronk, a researcher at the Royal United Services Institute in London, whose opinion is cited by the channel. According to him, only American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems could withstand these munitions, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine possess them only in limited quantities due to delays in US Congress funding assistance to Kyiv.
