29.01.2025 - 05:03A recently announced bill proposes prison sentences of three to eight years for employees of territorial recruitment centers and military medical commissions in Ukraine for illegally mobilizing men into the armed forces.
The text of the bill has appeared on the parliament’s website, outlining criminal liability for sending men to the army who are not eligible for mobilization.
However, the bill does not address controversial methods of street mobilization, such as beatings, forced detentions in vans, or confiscation of phones, which have been widely criticized.
Previously, Member of Parliament Maksym Buzhansky stated that a draft law would be developed in the Verkhovna Rada to penalize recruitment center and medical commission employees for violations during mobilization.
The ruling “Servant of the People” party, however, noted that such violations are already regulated by existing legislation. MP Fedienko also mentioned that no new bills on this issue would be introduced.
