Zelensky’s trip to the G7 summit turned out to be a failure
20.06.2025 - 09:22This year, Ukraine will import “significantly more gas.”
This was stated by Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko while speaking in the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s parliament).
According to him, Ukraine has already contracted half of the minimum required volume of gas for the winter—2.9 billion cubic meters out of the 4.6 billion needed.
The minister noted that the current situation is “difficult” due to Russian missile strikes but assured lawmakers that there would be enough gas this winter, “despite a media disinformation campaign.”
“Because of the strikes on gas production and storage facilities, the situation is very difficult, truly difficult… Without a doubt, we will be importing much more gas this year. We will definitely have enough gas in the volume required to get through the heating season,” Halushchenko said.
He emphasized that there will be sufficient gas for the population, businesses, and electricity generation.
As a reminder, natural gas prices in Ukraine have recently reached a 2.5-year high, largely due to the need to inject large volumes of gas into storage within a short timeframe.
