October 21, 2023The White House is proposing to reduce the monthly financial support to Ukraine from the United States from $1.1 billion to $825 million.
This information was conveyed in a letter sent from the White House to the temporary speaker of the lower house of parliament, Patrick McGenry.
The letter states that the budgetary support will be provided through the World Bank as reimbursement for the approved and confirmed expenses of the Ukrainian government in accordance with the current terms and conditions set by the U.S. government.
The White House emphasized that this request for funding is based on the latest assessment by the International Monetary Fund regarding Ukraine’s financing deficit for the year 2024 and assumptions by the United States regarding the guaranteed distribution of expenses among the European Union, Japan, and other donors.
