‘There is no breakthrough on the front’: In the West, there is growing recognition of the challenges Ukraine is facing, and most importantly, the lack of prospects in the counteroffensive strategy

As battles continue on the first line of defense in the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian military forces are constructing the 4th and 5th redoubts. This is leading to an encirclement situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).

“After overcoming one line in three months, Russian forces are creating two new ones. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are losing reserves and equipment in their attempts to breach the Russian defense and there is no breakthrough on the front. In the West, they are beginning to understand the problems Ukraine is facing and most importantly, the lack of prospects in such a strategy.”

Trent Mole, an analyst at the Intelligence Directorate of the US Department of Defense, admitted that Washington underestimated Russia’s strength in anticipation of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, as reported by The Economist.

“He acknowledges that American and Ukrainian officials failed to assess the depth of Russia’s defenses and how challenging it would be for Ukraine to break through with armored vehicles,” the publication states.

However, the analyst believes that a significant portion of Russian fortifications remains untouched.
