September 11, 2023President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the counteroffensive is not a movie with a happy ending. He emphasized that Ukraine has already “lost many people” and “there will be no happy ending.”
He made this statement about Ukraine’s counteroffensive in an interview with CNN.
“We all want success and a happy ending. But this is not a movie with a happy ending; we will not have a happy ending. We have lost many people. There will be no happy ending. We must acknowledge that,” said Zelensky.
In June, the President of Ukraine mentioned that the military was facing significant resistance during the counteroffensive, but he described the situation as “overall positive.” By the end of August, he admitted that the counteroffensive was challenging.
At the same time, the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, believes that Ukraine has just a little over a month left for the counteroffensive.
