DTEK Odesa employees were not granted an extension on their deferments. They are advised not to travel around the city to avoid encounters with territorial recruitment center staff
11.11.2024 13:15Territorial recruitment centers need to be disbanded due to “inhumane treatment” of Ukrainians.
This was stated by Yuriy Kamelchuk, a member of parliament from the “Sluga Naroda” faction.
“We must acknowledge that the territorial recruitment centers have failed in their mobilization tasks and should be disbanded. Most of them, as seen in numerous videos on the internet—thousands, not just one or two clips!—represent countless unrecorded instances. Many attempts by the relatives of conscripts and lawyers to compel them to respect human rights were also not documented… This indicates that the territorial recruitment centers need to be dissolved—long overdue. They are inefficient in carrying out their work. Their actions are disrupting mobilization efforts because most people are hiding, and those who reach military units end up in difficult situations (SOCH). This alarming statistic is solely due to their inhumane treatment,” Kamelchuk said.
He also noted that the head of the territorial recruitment center in Lviv region is violating and ignoring Ukrainian laws. Attempts by the MP to check the physical condition of two men unlawfully detained in the Lviv territorial recruitment center ended with responses like, “You are nobody.”
Kamelchuk believes there is a directive from the Ministry of Defense that grants military commissars carte blanche to act as they please, extending even to the police. Even law enforcement officers are denied access to the recruitment centers when requested by relatives, lawyers, and MPs. Kamelchuk stated that he approached the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine regarding this issue a week and a half ago but received no response.
Earlier, media reported that a hotline was launched in Ukraine to allow complaints about the work of the territorial recruitment centers.
