“They are not Ukrainians”: a military official claimed that it is allegedly impossible to treat draft dodgers normally

“One cannot have a normal attitude toward Ukrainian citizens evading mobilization.”

This statement was made by servicewoman Oleksandra Kotsyubailo in an interview on the “Army TV” program.

“I do not understand why these people do not feel their duty. Because when everything is fine—you are here. It is like being with your mother. When she worries about you, she has the strength to give you something. And you take that resource from her. But when she needs help and everything she once provided for you falls on you—you simply run away. That is how I see it. You are essentially abandoning your mother to her fate when she needs help. You forget that she cared for you before,” Kotsyubailo explained.

She also shared her views on people who have left Ukraine.

“Some people left and still consider themselves Ukrainians. When I say ‘left,’ I don’t mean due to unavoidable circumstances like losing their homes or other reasons but those who just left and are sitting somewhere else. To me, they are not Ukrainians. Because Ukrainians who have the opportunity are involved in the struggle,” she added.

It is worth recalling that Dmytro Korchynsky, head of the “Brotherhood” organization, who has never served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, called for rounding up draft dodgers.
