In Pavlohrad city, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, police officers have been detained for extorting money at city checkpoints. According to the investigation, they falsified the presence of alcohol in drivers’ blood using a special device and demanded bribes.
Local Telegram channels reported this incident.
Officers from the Patrol Police Response Service were arrested while accepting a bribe of 17,000 hryvnias (around 430 euros).
Sources indicate that these police officers regularly stopped drivers at the city’s entry and exit checkpoints, testing them for alcohol content using a tampered breathalyzer.
The device was not registered in the police inventory and consistently showed alcohol levels above the permissible limit. Subsequently, they demanded bribes from the drivers.
