September 6, 2024Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets is appealing to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding a video circulating online, which, according to the Telegram channels that published it, shows Russian soldiers executing a captured Ukrainian soldier.
Lubinets wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

CNN also published two additional videos showing the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) by Russians. According to the channel, one video was filmed in May near Robotyne, and the second near Pokrovsk in August.
Citing sources in military intelligence, the publication reported that 15 cases of the execution of Ukrainian POWs have been recorded since November 2023. Most of them are confirmed by drone footage and radio intercepts.
Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin stated that since the start of the war, 28 such cases have been under investigation, in which 62 Ukrainian soldiers were killed.
Meanwhile, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case yesterday after the appearance of a video showing the torture of Russian POWs by Ukrainian soldiers.
Earlier, the UN reported in a document that both sides of the conflict have engaged in killings and torture of prisoners.
According to Human Rights Watch, since the beginning of December 2023, Russian soldiers have executed at least 15 Ukrainian soldiers who attempted to surrender.
