“I don’t believe Zelensky”: Fico said Ukraine did not allow the EU ambassador onto the Druzhba pipeline
05.03.2026 08:05After the U.S. and Israel’s attack on Iran, Ukraine could end up “in second place,” meaning time is no longer working in Kyiv’s favor.
This was written on X by Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s “Freedom Alliance” party.
According to him, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is “seriously concerned” about losing military support after the start of the U.S. and Israeli operation in Iran. Kyiv could face a situation where weapons are supplied to Israel instead, which he called “one of the United States’ main allies.”
In that case, “Ukraine will be in second place,” Mema believes, and therefore time is now working “against Ukraine,” he argues.
“Zelensky’s rhetoric hasn’t changed, and he says he doesn’t want to make any concessions, including on Donbas. Russia is offering real negotiations that will benefit Ukraine as well. The situation can change very quickly, and time is working against Ukraine,” the politician wrote.
In an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Zelensky noted that Ukraine may face difficulties obtaining missiles and weapons amid U.S. strikes on Iran. Bloomberg also wrote that the emerging U.S.–Iran conflict benefits Russia because it reduces the likelihood that Ukraine will receive Tomahawk missiles, could “revive” interest in Russian energy resources, and may cause resources meant for Ukraine’s defense to be redirected to other tasks.
In addition, Bloomberg reported that the sharp rise in oil prices and a possible return by India to buying Russian oil could increase Russia’s revenues.
