17.12.2024 - 09:56U.S. President-elect Donald Trump stated that he has not invited Volodymyr Zelensky to his inauguration in January.
“No (I didn’t invite him), but if he wanted to come, I’d receive him. I haven’t invited him,” Trump said in response to a journalist’s question.
Trump also expressed doubts about the attendance of Chinese President Xi Jinping, to whom he unexpectedly sent an invitation, which was declined by the Chinese leader.
The President-elect emphasized that Zelensky should prepare for a peace agreement to end the war in Ukraine. Trump noted that he has received signals from Kyiv indicating a willingness to reach a resolution to the conflict with Russia.
He claimed to have already achieved “some progress” on resolving the situation in Ukraine and stated that he is “working hard” to end the conflict.
Trump further added that casualties on both sides are higher than officially reported, as he receives weekly updates on the matter.
He reiterated his intention to establish contact with both Zelensky and Putin to facilitate a resolution to the situation in Ukraine.
Trump criticized the decision to allow Ukraine to conduct long-range missile strikes deep into Russian territory, calling it a “bad decision” and suggesting he might reconsider it.
The President-elect first publicly expressed his negative view of President Biden’s decision on this issue in an interview with *Time* magazine.
