Trump says a “well-known woman” who criticizes Zelensky faces threat of imprisonment

U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Ukraine wants to imprison a well-known woman who is publicly criticizing President Vladimir Zelensky.

The relevant excerpt from the American leader’s interview was circulated by political Telegram channels.

Trump said he saw the woman on television late in the evening. According to him, she was openly accusing the Ukrainian president.

“The other night I was watching a woman on television. She’s accusing Zelensky. She says: ‘Zelensky is killing our men. Our men are dying. Our men have no legs. They are in psychiatric institutions.’ She’s talking about Ukraine. She is very well known. They want to put her in prison,” — Trump said.

White House sources told media that the reference is to recent interviews given by Yulia Mendel — Zelensky’s former press secretary.

Mendel herself had previously stated that a criminal case for treason was being prepared against her.

Trump made this statement after criticizing Zelensky and calling Russia an adequate party in the matter of resolving the situation in Ukraine.
