September 25, 2024Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who is seeking a return to the White House, stated that if elected president, he would end the U.S. involvement in the war in Ukraine.
Trump made these remarks at a campaign event in the state of Georgia.
“President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris (Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate) have led us into this war in Ukraine, and now they can’t get us out. They can’t get us out of there,” the agency quotes the former president’s speech.
“I think we’re stuck in this war unless I become president. I’ll handle it. I’ll get negotiations going, and I’ll pull us out. We need to get out of there. Biden says we won’t leave until we win. But what happens if they win?” Trump continued.
The U.S. is not directly involved in the war in Ukraine but provides substantial support, on which Kyiv critically depends.
Earlier, it should be noted that Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance said that if Donald Trump is elected president of the United States, he might propose to Kyiv and Moscow to freeze the conflict along the current front line, and for Ukraine to abandon its plans to join NATO.
In response, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Vance’s plan is a “dangerous signal.” The President of Ukraine added that he “does not take the words of the U.S. vice-presidential candidate seriously.”
