U.S. President Donald Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Ukraine must go on the offensive.
This was reported by The Washington Post, citing sources.
According to the publication, the American leader is not convinced that “defense” can help Ukraine win the war.
“In a conversation with Zelensky on July 4, Trump said that Ukraine will not change the course of the war by playing defense and needs to go on the offensive,” a Ukrainian official stated.
The report also specifies Zelensky’s comment regarding attacks on major Russian cities.
“When Trump asked whether Ukraine could bomb Moscow or St. Petersburg, Zelensky replied: ‘If we have the necessary weapons, we can’,” the newspaper writes.
Earlier, the White House denied that Trump had urged Zelensky to strike Moscow and St. Petersburg.
