The Loss of Donbas: Western journalists reveal details of Trump’s new plan on Ukraine
20.11.2025 - 05:32According to the U.S.–Russia plan to end the war, the Russian language must be granted official state status in Ukraine.
This was reported by The Financial Times, citing a person familiar with the negotiations.
The outlet writes that another condition is the restoration of the official status of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
The publication confirms that “the document also calls on Ukraine to renounce key categories of weaponry and provides for the winding down of U.S. military aid.”
It should be recalled that in the summer, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia is not insisting on state status for the Russian language in Ukraine.
Before that, the Western press reported that in Alaska, Putin demanded official status for the Russian language in Ukraine and spoke about the persecution of the UOC.
Earlier, the media reported that the Verkhovna Rada withdrew from consideration a bill that would have stripped the Russian language of protection by the state under the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. This happened, it was said, following demands from Europe.
