“Leopard tank and Taurus missile supplies won’t save Zelensky’s regime,” – Zakharova says
07.05.2025 - 07:04Ukraine has expressed readiness to immediately agree to a ceasefire with Russia and withdraw its forces 15 kilometers from the line of contact.
This was announced by Keith Kellogg, special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, on Fox News.
“They are ready for a comprehensive ceasefire—on land, at sea, and in the air—for at least 30 days, with the possibility of extension. And they’re ready to do it today,” Kellogg stated.
According to him, the Ukrainian side has proposed the creation of a 30-kilometer buffer zone.
“They said literally the following: we pull back 15 kilometers, and [Russia] pulls back 15 kilometers. That results in a 30-kilometer zone that can be effectively monitored,” Kellogg reported.
He added that the U.S. President could help guarantee compliance with the ceasefire in Ukraine, “if Russia agrees to it.”
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a unilateral ceasefire in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II, from midnight May 7–8 until midnight May 10–11.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, however, rejected Putin’s proposal for a three-day truce on May 9, instead insisting on a 30-day ceasefire.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump reacted positively to Putin’s ceasefire proposal for May 9 and stated that both Kyiv and Moscow want to end the war.
