Ukraine is facing a record number of limb amputation surgeries.

According to Olga Rudneva, the head of the rehabilitation center for Ukrainian military personnel with amputated limbs, called “Superhumans,” since the beginning of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine at least 20,000 Ukrainians have undergone at least one amputation. The government does not disclose the proportion of these surgeries related to Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, as noted in the article.
The situation is further complicated by the shortage of prosthetic specialists in Ukraine and military personnel complain that the prosthetics provided often do not fit properly, the article emphasizes.
