“Will become a victim of great powers”: Slovak Prime Minister predicts peace in Ukraine with loss of territory
16.10.2024 - 17:52Two residents of Smila in the Cherkasy region sold nearly 200 vehicles that were allegedly intended for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU), making over 31 million UAH (€690,000).
This information reported according to Ukraine’s National Police.
The men set up a scheme to import vehicles under the guise of humanitarian aid. However, instead of donating the vehicles to the military as intended, they sold them to civilians for cash. One of the suspects has been taken into custody, with the possibility of posting bail set at 90,800 UAH (€2,020), while the other has been placed under house arrest. They face up to seven years in prison if convicted.

This incident follows a similar case in Poltava, where the head of a charitable organization sold 50 vehicles that were supposed to be handed over to the military. Investigators allege that the man received well-known car brands from abroad as humanitarian aid for the AFU but sold them for personal profit instead of transferring them free of charge.
Additionally, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense recently reported the disappearance of humanitarian aid worth 170 million UAH (€3.8 million), which was meant for the AFU. The ministry has requested law enforcement to investigate certain officials for illegal enrichment, misappropriation of property, and abuse of office.
