Two Ukrainians have died in Israel: measures are being taken to organize the repatriation of their bodies

Two Ukrainian citizens have tragically lost their lives in Israel, and measures are being taken to organize the repatriation of their bodies.

The embassy received confirmation from the Israeli police regarding the deaths of these two Ukrainian citizens. Efforts are underway to facilitate the repatriation of the deceased. There is no information available about any Ukrainian citizens among the injured or missing at this time.

As per clarification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, both of the deceased individuals were women who had been residing in Israel for an extended period.

On October 7, 2023, Israel came under a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Palestinian group Hamas.

The invasion began on the 50th anniversary of the “Yom Kippur War.”

The Israeli military confirmed the loss of control over seven communities near the Gaza Strip. On October 8, Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu announced the destruction of most of the Hamas militants who had infiltrated Israeli territory and the completion of the first phase of Operation “Iron Swords.” According to Netanyahu, Israel will now initiate an offensive, marking the start of a “long war.”
