“Everything is going very well”: the Kremlin assessed the development of dialogue with Washington
14.04.2025 - 05:34The next round of discussions related to Ukraine and Russia is scheduled to take place on April 15–16 in Ankara, Turkey.
This information reported according to CNN Turk, citing sources in the Turkish Ministry of National Defense.
The primary focus of the meeting will be maritime security in the Black Sea.
However, it appears that this will not be a direct Ukraine-Russia negotiation. Turkish media report that the Turkish Ministry of Defense will host a meeting on Black Sea security during those dates, held in light of a possible ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. Military representatives from various foreign countries are expected to attend.
It remains unclear whether official representatives from either Ukraine or Russia will be present at the meeting.
As a reminder, during recent talks in Saudi Arabia — mediated by the United States — the topic of a ceasefire in the Black Sea was discussed. Russia reportedly agreed to the proposal, but only under the condition that the U.S. and EU lift sanctions on Russian exports of agricultural products and fertilizers.
Following that, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he would consider Russia’s requests for sanctions relief in exchange for a Black Sea ceasefire.
