November 20, 2023Former Ukrainian Ambassador to Washington Valeriy Chaly stated that the situation with Ukrainian assistance in the US is developing according to the worst-case scenario. He believes that Republicans want to delay the issue of providing aid and it’s uncertain what will happen next. Chaly thinks that a reduction in aid is already evident.
Earlier, activist Daria Kaleniuk from the Anti-Corruption Action Center wrote about the possibility of aid reduction or postponement. She asserts that without direct US support, Ukraine’s economy “will collapse like a house of cards very quickly.” Furthermore, without military assistance, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be left without weapons.
At the same time, NBC News reports ongoing consultations in Congress regarding providing aid to Ukraine before the new year. However, no results are visible yet and it’s highly likely that in the coming months, Ukraine will effectively be left without any assistance from its largest ally: the US.
