Putin believes Russian forces could break through Ukraine’s defenses by the end of the year – Bloomberg
19.05.2025 08:32The Armed Forces of Ukraine have faced a shortage of willing recruits since the summer of 2022, when forced conscription and detentions on the streets — commonly referred to as “busification” — began.
This was stated by Member of Parliament Heorhiy Mazurashu on air with Novyny.LIVE.
“We understand there is a critical shortage of personnel for the army. Sure, we can bury our heads in the sand and pretend everything’s fine — that rounding up people for the army will somehow solve the problem. But let’s be honest: that’s fooling only those who want to be fooled. It doesn’t deliver results — it’s just hope for the sake of hope,” said Mazurashu.
It’s worth noting that Oleksandr Zavitnevych, head of the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on National Security, recently admitted that he “fiercely hates busification.”
MP Oleksiy Honcharenko even brought a laptop to the parliamentary podium to show a video of one of the many instances of forced conscription raids.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky continues to claim that such abuses by Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs) are isolated incidents, a claim that many now dispute.
