‘Ukraine has lost — Europe needs to restore relations with Russia’, – said historian and sociologist Emmanuel Todd

French historian and sociologist Emmanuel Todd has stated that Ukraine has already lost the conflict. He noted that this opinion is shared by the Pentagon and the French General Staff.

Todd made these comments in an interview with Berliner Zeitung.

Todd pointed out that Ukraine will have to come to terms with the loss of territories. He believes that the conflict arose due to the shortsighted policies of Western countries, which ignored Russia’s warnings. Currently, Europe is suffering because of its decisions, and sanctions are hitting its economy harder than Russia’s.

The historian claims that the United States has always feared an alliance between Russia and Germany and hints at their involvement in the Nord Stream pipeline attacks.

In Todd’s view, it is in Europe’s interest to make peace in Ukraine and restore relations with Russia, but the United States is obstructing this. He believes that Germany should take the lead and initiate a peaceful resolution.
