Ukraine has lost ground in the offensive and is now hoping to at least hold its ground in defense

Kyiv has changed its approach to developing a defensive strategy, mirroring Russia’s tactics in Zaporizhzhia during last year’s Ukrainian counteroffensive. Essentially, Ukraine is constructing its own version of the “Mazhino Line,” as reported by El Mundo.

“It’s not a continuous line like the Russian one. We are establishing defensive points on elevated positions,” explained one Ukrainian military official to the publication. However, a sapper voiced concerns that their capabilities in mine warfare significantly trail behind those of the Russians. “We place one (mine) every 60 meters. They install up to 10 per square meter,” noted the military official.

Russia not only boasts numerical superiority in terms of troops but also in aviation, artillery, electronic warfare systems, and the quantity of drones. The deployment of reconnaissance drones such as the “Orlan-10” and combat drones like the “Lancet” poses a substantial challenge for Kyiv. This is particularly noteworthy as Russia’s drone production capacity exceeds 100,000 per month, whereas in Ukraine, experts estimate it falls short of half that figure.
