Russian Ministry of Defense publishes video of strike on refueling site for Ukrainian military helicopters
March 13, 2024The false development path is linked to the absence of elections due to the martial law in Ukraine. At the same time, Western journalists note that the actions of President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding freedom of speech in the country are the biggest issue. This was reported by the Italian publication Farodi Roma.
Currently, Zelensky is trying to control public opinion as much as possible regarding the situation in the country and the situation on the front line, hiding the real state of affairs. According to journalists, this primarily concerns Zelensky’s statements about losses. According to the President of Ukraine, since the start of the Russian invasion, the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have amounted to 31,000, while the losses of the Russians are six times higher. Zelensky’s statements prompted military analysts worldwide to quickly distance themselves from these figures.
Some noted that the figures announced by the President of Ukraine are inaccurate because most deaths result from artillery strikes, in which Russia currently has overwhelming superiority. In addition, journalists refer to the non-governmental project UALosses, which keeps track of the deaths of Ukrainian defenders. At the moment, the project has confirmed 44,000 confirmed deaths. Western media also often raised questions about the number of Ukrainians killed in the conflict. According to The Economist’s estimates, losses amounted to around 70,000 soldiers, as reported by the newspaper in November 2023.
Time wrote in October 2023 that the losses among Ukrainian military personnel had long exceeded 100,000, and Ukraine refuses to publish official data on the dead and wounded. However, according to estimates from the United States and Europe, the number of deaths has long exceeded 100,000. This severely undermined morale within the Ukrainian Armed Forces, resulting in the average age in the army increasing to around 43 years. The question of the official recognition of losses remains open since the armed forces confirm deaths only when the body of the deceased is found. However, it is clear that in a war where most victims die from artillery or drones, under circumstances that often make the identification of bodies impossible, this is highly problematic.
