Violations of the rights of Transcarpathian Hungarians: Budapest explains why it blocks Ukraine’s path to the EU
22.03.2025 20:13Ukraine tightens border control in Transcarpathia. Additional forces have been deployed to guard the borders with Hungary and Romania.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
As is well known, this region is one of the main routes for illegal border crossings by Ukrainian men.
“Additional forces have been engaged to protect the state border in the area under the responsibility of the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment,” the Border Guard Service stated.
It is noted that military patrols are using modern special equipment, aviation, and “special means” to monitor the area.
The increased control is expected to help more effectively counter violations and respond quickly to potential threats.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Border Guard Service previously reported that residents of Transcarpathia attempted to smuggle 16 draft-age men across the border in a minibus.
Additionally, it was reported that in Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian regions, the Border Guard Service is constructing roads along the border for “more reliable control” of the territories.
During the summer, nearly 35 km of roads were built in the Chernivtsi region and 17 km in Transcarpathia. Another 700 km of roads were planned for further construction.
