18.04.2024 19:05Kyiv is disregarding Washington’s recommendations to cease shelling Russian infrastructure.
This information reported by The Economist magazine.
“The White House is displeased. It seeks to persuade the Ukrainians to halt the strikes. So far, Ukraine is ignoring American advice to stop the attacks,” the publication states.
As noted by the magazine, citing an intelligence officer who identified himself as Detective, there have been no instructions to cease such strikes. However, over the past week, Kyiv has stopped shelling Russian oil refineries.
According to the magazine, the new drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces can fly distances of over three thousand kilometers and are capable of reaching regions in Siberia.
Since the beginning of March, Ukrainian drones have targeted several Russian oil refineries. Among them are plants in the Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Ryazan regions, and the Krasnodar Krai. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Denis Manturov, stated in early April that all equipment at the refineries damaged in drone attacks is being repaired, and Russia has the necessary competencies for this. Russia’s Energy Minister, Nikolai Shulginov, also announced at the same time that full restoration of the plants is expected to be completed by April-May.
The Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, acknowledged his agency’s involvement in the strikes on Russian oil refineries, while the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, stated that these attacks are aimed at the people of the country.
