October 6, 2023Ukraine is approaching winter with a damaged energy system.
This information reported according to Reuters.
Journalists report that Russian rocket and drone attacks have made the energy system more vulnerable than it was a year ago.
“During the summer months, thousands of engineers worked on repairing the damaged equipment… But there was neither the money nor the time to complete the preparations for winter, which means even more long nights without electricity, heating, and water for millions of Ukrainians and even more suffering for businesses and the economy as a whole,” the publication states.
“Many efforts were simply focused on repairing what was destroyed. Are we in a better position than last winter? I don’t think so,” said Markus Lippold, the head of the energy group in the EU expansion department.
