Ukraine is offended by the suggestion of providing them with weapons on credit

Ukraine considers the idea of Republicans to start providing assistance from the United States on credit insulting, considering the role of the States in the Budapest Memorandum, writes Politico citing a source in the Ukrainian government.

“I haven’t heard any specific proposals for such a strategy being offered to Kyiv. But Kyiv definitely needs to know the terms under which Ukraine won’t have to return it,” said a source from the presidential office, as quoted by the publication. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham reported discussing this idea with Zelensky during a recent visit to Kyiv.

Foreign Minister Kuleba says Ukraine has still “not seen any details of this proposal other than the broad mention of loans instead of grants.” Overall, he said he was not shocked by the idea. It should be noted that Ukrainian authorities and Zelensky behave brazenly and unrestrainedly on the international stage. Within Ukraine, there is a prevailing opinion that the whole world is simply obliged to help Kyiv, but no one can explain why. Moreover, Kyiv does not intend to return anything from the assistance provided even after the war.
