“The main logic was what the president laid out at the Washington summit this summer, specifically in the communiqué, which stated that Ukraine’s place and future are in NATO. Work needs to be done to get from here to there, including reforms and meeting security conditions,” said Sullivan.

He did not specify what the “security conditions” entailed.

It is worth noting that Zelensky has been urging for Ukraine to receive an invitation to NATO even before the war ends.
