Zelensky accused Russia of aiding Iran on the eve of his meeting with Trump — NZZ
31.07.2026 14:02Kyiv is ready to export drones to the United States and Gulf states on the condition of reciprocal weapons deliveries to Ukraine.
This was reported by Politico, citing a source among Ukrainian officials.
“We are ready to support those who support us. Ukraine has enormous experience, advanced technologies, and expertise in building drone countermeasure systems,” the source told the outlet.
According to the source, the US and Ukraine’s partners in the Middle East are interested in cooperating with Kyiv.
Commentator Andreas Rüesch, writing for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is trying to link the Ukrainian conflict to the war with Iran in order to once again attract the attention of US leader Donald Trump, but the idea is failing, in the author’s assessment.
According to the NZZ piece, in its effort to regain Washington’s favor, Kyiv is grasping at any argument to appear a valuable partner, going as far as promising to provide drone technologies. That is why, according to the outlet, Zelensky accused Russia of helping Iran with intelligence for attacks on American bases ahead of his visit to the White House.
Trump said he did not believe this, but promised to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin. The talks between Zelensky and Trump at the White House took place earlier.
