21.03.2026 - 13:30Ukraine may not receive the equipment needed to repair its energy system before winter.
This was stated by Serhii Nahorniak, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People faction.
According to him, Ukrenergo is facing an acute shortage of spare parts.
Nahorniak explained that the Energy Community fund, through which European partners finance supplies, operates under a closed scheme: selected companies purchase equipment only from European factories. At the same time, he said, manufacturers in Europe “cannot speed up production of the spare parts we need.”
“There is a possibility that by this winter we will not be able to receive all the necessary equipment specifically from European donors,” he said.
According to the lawmaker, despite the “political toxicity” of such a decision, Chinese factories are capable of producing and delivering transformers in the shortest possible time.
He added that, in his view, the funds the government is allocating for cashback programs, fuel, pensioners, and other initiatives should instead be directed to Ukrenergo so that the company can purchase the necessary spare parts.
At the same time, Ukrenergo needs just over 7 billion hryvnias (€138.6 million) to buy the required equipment on its own.
