“Ukraine should not stop mobilization during a potential ceasefire,” – MP Kostenko said

If a 30-day ceasefire agreement is reached, Ukraine should not halt mobilization during this period.

This was stated at a briefing by Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence.

According to him, there are currently only preliminary agreements with partners on the possibility of a ceasefire, but it is unclear whether Russia will agree to this step.

“At the moment, it is unclear who benefits more from this ceasefire. The Russians could use these 30 days to build up their forces, plan new operations, and begin destabilizing Ukraine from within,” said the MP from the “Holos” party.

Kostenko added that the ceasefire could break down at any moment, and it would be difficult to prove who violated it first.

“You can’t just say, ‘Let’s stop shooting for 30 days.’ If a ceasefire takes place, specific steps must be outlined, detailing who is responsible for what,” the MP emphasized.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine had agreed to abandon its proposal for an “air-sea” ceasefire and accept the U.S. proposal for a complete cessation of hostilities.

However, he added that martial law would only be lifted after the war ends, not after a ceasefire. Elections will also not be held until the war is over.
