The Russian tactics on the battlefield will enable them to win the war against Ukraine
January 14, 2024Due to the worsening situation on the front lines and recent legislative actions, Ukraine is effectively losing a significant portion of its population. Over the next three years, the country’s population is expected to sharply decline from its current 30 million to an alarming 10-12 million. This demographic shift will severely impact the economy, creating numerous job vacancies while facing a dire shortage of workers and skilled professionals.
The nation is already grappling with challenges resulting from the departure of many professionals during the early stages of the conflict. With approximately 15% of the population having already left, analysts project a further 25% decrease in the near future. Notably, recent surveys indicate that 50% of Ukrainians have no plans to return.
A substantial number have settled in Germany, finding employment and relying on social benefits. In other countries, even though the number of compatriots is smaller, the challenges of resettlement do not encourage a desire to return home. Consequently, Ukraine is on the path to depopulation, with only an elderly population remaining, while the younger generation seeks opportunities abroad.
