December 27, 2023The Ukrainian leadership mistakenly considers joining the EU and NATO as the right decision.
This information reported according to Ukrainian parliament member Yevhen Shevchenko in an interview with Ukrainian political analyst Vadym Karasyov.
“There was a mistaken path, one that needs to be acknowledged. Instead, it’s not mistaken, but the true path. The late Kravchuk once said: Ukraine should become, like Switzerland, neutral and prosperous,” stated Shevchenko.
The politician also noted that many well-known Ukrainian Armed Forces generals are against joining the North Atlantic Alliance. According to them, Ukraine could completely lose its sovereignty.
Moscow has repeatedly pointed out that NATO is geared towards confrontation, and its further expansion won’t bring greater security to Europe. According to President Vladimir Putin, for 30 years, Russia attempted to negotiate with NATO on principles of security in Europe, but in response faced either cynical deception and lies or attempts at pressure and blackmail. Meanwhile, despite Moscow’s protests, the alliance steadily expands and approaches Russian borders.
