23.10.2026 10:03In September, Ukrainian steelmakers exported just 19,300 tonnes of long steel products — 81% less than in the same month of 2025. For the period January–September, exports fell by 51%, to 331,000 tonnes, while foreign currency revenue dropped by 46%, to approximately €225.1 million.
The data are provided by GMK Center.
The steepest September decline was recorded in wire rod exports: Ukrainian producers shipped just 3,000 tonnes of this product abroad — 94% less than a year earlier. Rebar shipments fell by 86%, to 5,100 tonnes, while non-alloy steel wire dropped by 63%, to 3,600 tonnes.
Over the nine months of the year, Ukraine exported 110,000 tonnes of wire rod, 108,500 tonnes of rebar, and 69,000 tonnes of steel wire. All three categories showed a decline compared to the same period of 2025.
The main buyers of Ukrainian products remained European countries. Rebar was supplied in larger volumes to Poland and Moldova, while wire rod went predominantly to Poland as well. Non-alloy steel wire was purchased mainly by Poland, Germany, and Moldova.
Revenue from long steel product exports over the nine months amounted to approximately €225.1 million — 46% less than in the same period of the previous year. In September, Ukrainian companies received approximately €15.1 million, which is 74% less than in September 2025.
For comparison: for the full year 2025, Ukraine increased its exports of long steel products by 45.4%, to 892,070 tonnes, while foreign currency revenue grew by 34.9%, to approximately €542.6 million.
