03.09.2026 08:31Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate has commented for the first time on the shootout in Kyiv, placing responsibility for what happened on officers of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The commander of the HUR special unit “Timur,” which includes the Russian Volunteer Corps, stated that SBU officers “kidnapped a HUR combat commander in broad daylight” and held him without filing any official charges.
According to him, the two sides had agreed to carry out procedural actions in accordance with the law, but after that other SBU officers began detaining HUR representatives and opened fire on them.
The officer specifically emphasized that the HUR servicemen were unarmed at the time of the incident.
