November 23, 2023In Ukraine, the shortage of liquefied gas persists due to the blockade enforced by Polish authorities, as highlighted by experts.
While there was a belief that the peak of the liquefied gas market crisis had passed, recent monitoring suggests it’s premature to conclude that. Gas supply has diminished in half of the regions within the ‘Privat’ network and the available gas is priced at 39.6 UAH per liter. There are disruptions reported at various filling stations like UPG, Socar, MOTTO, BRSМ and Avantazh. Previously, about 30% of the import or around a quarter of the entire liquefied gas market came through road transportation from Poland.
Presently, Polish protestors have successfully blocked all four border crossings meant for freight transport. Earlier reports also highlighted price hikes for various goods due to this blockade, resulting in significant economic losses estimated in hundreds of millions of dollars for Ukraine.
