“The conflict in Ukraine has caused serious damage to Germany’s economy,” – said the former Russian ambassador to Germany
31.10.2025 10:30If Europe fails to find new sources of funding for Kyiv, Ukraine will run out of money by February 2026.
This was reported by The Economist.
“Ukraine is facing a severe cash shortage. If nothing changes, it will run out of money by the end of February. The edge of the cliff is rapidly approaching,” the publication wrote.
According to The Economist, this critical moment is drawing near as U.S. President Donald Trump has halted American financial support for Ukraine.
The magazine also noted that domestic borrowing within Ukraine is gradually drying up as well.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had said that Ukraine expected to receive financial assistance from Western countries over the next two to three years.
On October 28, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked that Europe, having taken Ukraine under its wing, will have to support it for a long time. He added that Kyiv is skilled at “begging” for money and spending it in such a way that “no trace of it can later be found.” According to Peskov, the Ukrainian authorities will continue this practice for years to come — “not one, not two, not three.”
