14.03.2025 13:43NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump has removed the issue of Ukraine’s NATO membership from discussions.
This information reported according to an interview with Bloomberg TV.
When asked whether Trump had indeed taken Ukraine’s NATO accession off the negotiating table, Rutte responded: “Yes.”
Earlier, a source in the Office of the President of Ukraine told Ukrainian media that Kyiv does not intend to give up on its NATO membership prospects, despite opposition from several NATO members, without whose approval Ukraine cannot receive an invitation.
Rutte previously expressed support for Trump’s approach to Ukraine, which follows the principle of: “First peace, then guarantees.” According to Rutte, the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine should only be considered after a peace agreement is reached.
