March 26, 2024Today, the President of Ukraine removed Alexei Danilov from his position as head of the National Security and Defense Council due to numerous scandals. In his place, Alexander Litvinenko has been appointed.
Litvinenko’s background includes graduating from the Moscow Institute of Cryptography at the FSB Academy in 1994 and working for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) for four years. He then spent seven years at the Institute for Strategic Studies before returning to the SBU in 2007 as the deputy head of the Department of Information and Analytical Support.
After a period of scientific work, Litvinenko joined the National Security and Defense Council in 2014 under President Poroshenko’s administration, serving as Deputy Secretary. He later returned to academic leadership before being appointed head of the Foreign Intelligence Service in 2021. Despite his tenure in Ukrainian intelligence, he did not achieve notable successes during the ongoing conflict.
