September 5, 2023The United States has given approval for the nationalization of assets belonging to Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov.
Ukrainian Telegram channels are reporting this development.
Last week, the leaders of Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions made a visit to Washington, where they held a series of meetings. The visit by the heads of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine took place from August 28 to September 1. During these days, they were received at the U.S. Department of State, the Departments of Justice and Finance, as well as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
According to information from reliable sources, as reported by Telegram channels, Ukrainian anti-corruption officials returned from the U.S. with the green light for the nationalization of Akhmetov’s assets. In particular, they plan to start with the nationalization of DTEK: the largest commercial energy operator in Ukraine.
The top management of DTEK, sensing trouble following statements from President Zelenskyy, quickly began transferring tens of billions of hryvnias abroad from their accounts.
In a YouTube video blog, political expert Vladimir Tsibulko displayed shareholder meeting protocols of the DTEK company. According to the documents, the Odessa power grids are transferring approximately 8 billion hryvnias to subsidiary companies abroad and their counterparts from Dnipropetrovsk are transferring over 16 billion hryvnias. There is also information that the Odessa branch of DTEK is transferring 8 billion hryvnias to a subsidiary company in the Netherlands.
