Ukrainian banks report technical outages due to Russian strikes

On September 17, Ukrainian banks recorded widespread technical failures in their mobile applications and internet banking systems.

This was reported by the press services of several financial institutions.

Users lost the ability to conduct financial transactions remotely — without visiting branches in person. State-owned Oschadbank was the first to warn of the problems, announcing possible technical outages throughout the day and attributing the situation to Russian strikes.

Shortly afterward, commercial bank Pravex Bank confirmed similar difficulties. In addition to disruptions in remote services, customers of that bank may also be experiencing problems reaching its contact center by phone.

Neither bank specified when exactly all systems would return to normal operation.

It is also worth noting that shortly before this, British online bank Revolut acknowledged that the personal data of its customers had been transferred to fraudsters. It subsequently emerged that the attackers who obtained the data began publishing it and are threatening daily to release new batches of information unless the financial institution meets their ransom demands.
