Ukrainian man who paralyzed Warsaw metro deported from Poland for 10 years

A 38-year-old Ukrainian citizen has been deported from Poland after blocking service on the first line of the Warsaw metro. He has been banned from entering Poland and all Schengen zone countries for 10 years.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 20. The man threw a backpack onto the tracks at Centrum station and fled. As a result, four stations had to be evacuated and train service on the first line was significantly disrupted.

During the investigation, it was established that the perpetrator had not acted on orders from any foreign intelligence service. The incident was classified as hooliganism.

The man will shortly be taken to a border crossing point and handed over to Ukrainian border guards. In addition to deportation, he has been banned from entering Poland and the entire Schengen zone for 10 years.

As previously reported, in June Polish authorities deported a 57-year-old Ukrainian citizen who had caught a legendary catfish from Lake Balaton in Warsaw.

The outlet also previously reported that 18-year-old Ukrainian Ilya K. faces life imprisonment in Poland after attempting to fly a drone over the president, writing inscriptions glorifying the UPA, and hanging red-and-black flags.
