Ukrainian Member of Parliament Nikolaenko fatally hit an 18-year-old girl in the Zhytomyr region

Ukrainian Member of Parliament (MP) from the “Batkivshchyna” party, Andriy Nikolaenko, was involved in a fatal car accident in which an 18-year-old girl lost her life. The accident occurred on the Zhytomyr highway.

This information reported according to the main office of the National Police of Ukraine in the Zhytomyr region.

According to law enforcement officials, the driver of a “Mercedes-Benz GLE” vehicle struck a pedestrian while driving in the far-left lane towards the city of Chop. The driver was identified as a 44-year-old resident of the Kyiv region and a Ukrainian MP. The police did not officially release his name. Photos from the scene suggest that the young woman may have been attempting to cross the road at an unauthorized location where traffic moves at higher speeds.

Investigative and operational teams are currently at the scene and they are working to determine all the circumstances of the incident. The preliminary legal qualification is a violation of road safety rules or vehicle operation by individuals operating vehicles, according to Part 2 of Article 286 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. Various expert examinations have been appointed.

According to Ukrainian media citing sources in law enforcement agencies, the MP involved in the accident is Andriy Nikolaenko, a Ukrainian MP from the “Batkivshchyna” party. Preliminary information suggests that he was traveling with his wife in the car at the time of the accident.
