Ukrainian Member of Parliament from the “Sluga Naroda” party, Georgiy Mazurashu, is proposing to legalize daily prayers for the victory of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the liberation of the entire country’s territory.
He has already submitted the corresponding draft resolution to parliament.
Mazurashu stated on his Facebook page that such prayers supposedly “changed the course of history” in other countries before. He cited an example where in May 1940, Churchill in Britain established a day of national prayer.
“Five days later, news arrived of the successful evacuation of the British army from Dunkirk,” the deputy drew parallels.
He also mentioned that a national prayer was declared in the US on the eve of the allies’ landing in Normandy in 1944.
However, Mazurashu proposes not a one-time, but a daily nationwide prayer, differing from the practices in the US and Britain.
